For Nancy Sudine

Samuel LOVES story time!  Our local library is VERY child friendly, and hosts an amazing story time every Thursday morning.  The Westernport Library isn't overly fancy or big, when it rains a lot the sandbags come out and the buckets are placed strategically to catch the leaks in the room, but it is so perfect, cute and cozy! It really is the best! I love taking Samuel there, and he loves going there!  You walk in to the sounds of laughter, kids playing, and one of the amazing librarians greeting you by name!

Samuel doesn't fully participate in Story Time.  It's more of an hour of wandering around, checking out the DVDs, selecting a couple to carry around, doing a craft, sitting for a couple minutes and listening to Miss Nancy read, run behind the desk numerous times and ignore Sherry while she says Hi Samuel! (he is WAY too busy to stop and say Hi!), checking out the DVDs again, standing on the stool to look out the window, climbing on the over sized soft blocks, and then playing musical instruments.

Nancy tells everyone who comes to Story Time not to worry how loud our kids are, if they don't sit down and listen to her stories, if their art project is never completed, if they are playing too hard.  She says, if the other patrons have a problem with how much fun everyone is having, then they can leave!  Thursday morning is time for her kids and story time!  I don't think anyone actually complains, I think everyone enjoys seeing everyone having so much fun and enjoying books!  Nancy only has one rule...NO RUNNING!

And sweet Nancy also wears rose colored glasses when it comes to our kids...you know, her sweet angels who do no wrong, who are allowed to play LOUD musical instruments in the middle of a library, who interrupt her at least 10 times every book, who fight over flannel board pieces.  Nancy doesn't quite believe Samuel knows how to cry, and was even a bit shocked when I posted in my blog about a meltdown he had...she thought I had used photo shop!

But last week I happened to take my camera to story time...and look what I captured!

Full Fledged Meltdown!
AT THE LIBRARY!!!!

Exhausted from such a tough Thursday morning at the library!

And that's what we do every Thursday morning!  Great memories and lots of fun!

  1. Nancy and all the librarians are amazing there. She really does think of the kids as her grandchildren. They have made it a warm, friendly, fun place for these kids.
