Samuel and Socks

Samuel has never had a security object (unless you count me, he doesn't go anywhere without me). He has never wanted a Binky, a blanket, or a certain toy that he just can't be without...until now. For his birthday, Samuel got a sock monkey from his Uncle Ricky and Aunt Mandy. He LOVES LOVES LOVES LOVES the sock monkey! It goes everywhere with him!!!

He likes his other stuffed animals too, and I usually arrange them sitting up so he can play with them all at once. The conversations that go on between him and his stuffed animals is very intense, but there is just something about Socks (the monkey), that he just loves. When he was sick last week, he insisted it stay nearby at all times. When he wakes up in the morning he crawls around until he finds it. He even gets into fights with the sock monkey, he'll fling it on the floor when he gets mad...but they make up quickly. Of course, it's the one toy that he has that says hand wash only...but after Samuel being sick last week, Socks survived a spin in the washing machine (no mother of a one year old has time to hand wash a sock monkey!!!).

So thank you Uncle Ricky and Aunt Mandy for the sock monkey! He loves it...2ND place goes to the Grinch (from Aunt Chris and Uncle Isaac), Samuel always gives the Grinch to Eric to play with.

I guess my influence of sock monkey must have paid off. After forcing him to wear his sock monkey costume for MOPS, trick-or-treating, and professional portraits, he finally identifies with a stuffed animal.
